Photographer,
publisher, photography teacher
Tassos Schizas was born in
Athens but he spent his childhood in Tripoli Libya. In 1982
he moved back to Greece and since then Thessaloniki has been
his permanent residence. Since 1982 the art of
photography has been his means of expressing his artistic
inclinations. He has been teaching in many private clubs and
vocational schools. In 1993, he published the "Gialino
Mati" (Glass Eye), a black and white photographic magazine
which was distributed to the public free of charge. Twenty
issues were published between 1993 and 1996. In 1996,
"Fotografiko Eidolo" (Photographic Idol), a new more
professional, monothematic, artistic magazine succeeded the
"Gialino Mati". Twenty eight issues were published between
1996 and 2010. He leads the photographic groups
"Fotoporoi", "Group F". He curates and organizes (with
the above groups) the "Contrast - Thessaloniki Photo
Festival". All these years he has been organizing
exhibitions, lectures and seminars. He has written
numerous reviews, he has published a series of articles and
has also published four books ("The technique of analog and
digital photography", "True Lie", "The idol of music",
"Teleportraits"). His portfolios have been frequently
published both in magazines and on the net. He has held
19 solo exhibitions and has taken part in 51 group
exhibitions.
