Tassos
Schizas was born in
Athens
but he spent his childhood in
Tripoli
Libya
.
In
1982 he moved back to
Greece
and since then Thessaloniki
has been his permanent residence.
Since
1982 the art of photography has been his means of
expressing his artistic inclinations.
He
has been teaching in many private clubs and vocational
schools.
In
1993, he published the "Gialino Mati" (Glass Eye),
a black and white photographic magazine
which
was distributed to the public free of charge.
Twenty
issues were published between 1993 and
1996.
In
1996, "Fotografiko
Eidolo" (Photographic Idol), a new more
professional, monothematic,
artistic
magazine succeeded the "Gialino Mati". Until now
28 issues have been published.
During
the same year "Fotoporoi", a photography club
was established by him and his students.
This
club is sponsored by the cultural organization of the
municipality
of
Eleftherio - Kordelio.
There,
he gives a series of primary lessons on the basic
knowledge of the art of photography
while
coordinating the team's actions. This team is one of the
most energetic in Thessaloniki
He
and the members of "Fotoporoi" have organized
for four years a photo festival in Thessaloniki
,
witch
growed up as great festival in autumn of 2010,
under
the name "Contrast
- Thessaloniki Photo Festival",
with
participations of many Greek photographic organizations.
All
these years he has been organizing exhibitions, lectures
and seminars.
He
has written numerous notes; he has published a series of
articles
and
has also published two books (The
technique of analog and digital photography
and True
Lie
).
His
portfolios have been published many times both in
magazines and on the net.
He
has held seventeen
individual exhibitions and has taken part
in thirty six group exhibitions.
